The full moon is often a time when we put our crystals out to be cleansed in the moon’s light. This month, I am putting myself out (in a manner of speaking) to be cleansed by the cool, clean light of the moon. I won’t be actually going outside-it’s cold and I’m whiny about it, but I have a great window in my office for basking in moonlight.
Where I am, though, it’s cloudy and expected to remain so over the next few days. The cool thing is that the moon’s energy still hits us, even through cloud cover so here’s the little meditation I’m going to use tonight. Feel free to use it yourself. ๐
Full Moon Cleansing Ritual
Settle into a quiet place, preferably where you can see the moon (although, if you cannot, that’s okay).
Light a silver or white candle (safely and don’t leave it unattended!), and some incense and take a few deep calming breaths. Close your eyes and visualize the silvery light of the moon surrounding your body, enveloping you in cool, cleansing light. Allow for the cleansing of your body, your soul, and your spirit, by visualizing your whole self in whatever way feels right to you.
Sit quietly for a bit and when it feels appropriate, take another deep cleansing breath and thank the moon, put out your candle and let your incense burn out.
I like to take a shower before-hand, to cleanse in a more literal fashion. I find it also helps me get into a good frame of mind for ritual work. Sometimes I also like to add music to my rituals-there’s really a lot of leeway in how you make your ritual work your own.
